This past weekend was one for the ages in freeride mountain biking, with two major events going down across both sides of the Atlantic. With Red Bull Hardline pitting racers against arguably the gnarliest DH track on the planet, the world’s best freeride mountain bikers gathered in Prineville, Oregon to battle it out for Proving Grounds on a custom built course complete with features straight out of a video game. In second, freeride dark horse Dylan Stark literally put a lighthearted middle finger to the judges and pieced together a run with his signature amplitude. Third place went to Bienvenido Aguado, who brought some serious moto style to the biggest jumps on the venue.

With the end of summer creeping closer, that only means one thing for freeride mountain biking – Red Bull Rampage is right around the corner. 18 athletes were officially named by Red Bull as part of the competition scheduled for October 21 in Virgin, Utah. Last year’s top 10 riders automatically prequalified for this year’s event, with eight wildcards and five alternates also joining the mix this year. Here’s the full list of

Mullets have been all the rage these days in the bike world, sprouting up not just as a hairstyle spilling out the back of helmets, but also as a way to give your bike a very unique handling feel. The “business in the front, party in the back” mentality is of course in reference to mixed wheel sizes, 29-inch out front, with a smaller 27.5-inch wheel in the back. In theory, the bigger wheel out front gives your bike the ability to roll over and plow through chunk, while the smaller rear
